Munich, the state capital in the heart of Bavaria

The city with a heart and the northernmost city in Italy... We at Hotel Obermaier wholeheartedly agree! To explore the charm and beauty of Munich, we would like to suggest a small walking tour. By public transport, you can quickly get to the heart of the action: Marienplatz. Get an overview – and if you're lucky, a view of the Alps – from the Tower of Old Peter. After the ascent and descent, the Viktualienmarkt will compensate you with its delicacies. Treat yourself to a Leberkässemmel or pack your picnic basket for a break in the English Garden or in one of the many wonderfully located beer gardens. For art lovers, meanwhile, the Alte and Neue Pinakothek plus numerous exhibitions await, while shopping queens feel at home in the pedestrian zone and the exquisite Maximiliansstraße. You can also discover modern Munich in Schwabing, Haidhausen or Giesing, always traditional and with a certain touch. If you still have time and leisure in the evening, we recommend the diverse cultural programme: From the Residenztheater to small, trendy concerts – Munich is also a cosmopolitan city here.

A successful city trip includes an extensive shopping spree. Munich offers almost paradisiacal conditions for falling into a lustful shopping frenzy: Briennerstrasse, department stores and chain stores in the pedestrian zone, funky and extravagant things between many galleries in districts such as Gärtnerplatz and Glockenbachviertel, Haidhausen or Schwabing, Bavarian traditional costume fashion, handicrafts and souvenirs in special shops, delicacies from all over the world at Dallmayr or Käfer, Europe's leading dellica houses, or on the Viktualienmarkt in the heart of the city. The popular RIEM ARCADEN shopping centre with over 140 shops is only 10 minutes away from the hotel.

Sleep well!

Hotel beds often have a bad reputation – but not so at the Hotel Obermaier. We know how important restful sleep is. So that you can start the new day relaxed and without back pain, we pay attention to the very highest quality of our beds and mattresses. In the main house you can enjoy the advantages of stylish box spring beds, which offer a very good lying feeling and a high degree of comfort. Thanks to our location, all the rooms are very quiet, so you can sleep with the window open with peace of mind; the air conditioner ensures the right temperature in summer. In addition, you can get several pillows on which you can fall asleep well bedded or even read a little.

Gladly again!
